Mr. Torn has over 30 years of healthcare experience, with the last 25 in senior leadership positions. Prior to joining Nobilis as vice president of clinical and ASC/hospital operations in 2017, he served as a CEO of University General Hospital Center and previously the CEO of Edgewood Surgical Hospital. He also served as Chief Nursing Officer of the Valley Baptist Health System. Mr. Torn has also worked as a health care consultant successfully improving clinical and facility healthcare operations.
In the above positions, Mr. Torn effectively optimized financial performance, and enhanced service lines. He also performed tactical execution of complex initiatives to meet and exceed operational goals. As a visionary leader, he is best known for creating an organizational culture that thrives on authenticity, collaboration, and transparency. Mr. Torn believes that focusing on his team’s well-being is a key component for providing optimal experiences and exceptional outcomes for the healthcare consumer.
His leadership style would best be described as participative. This stems from his clinical and hospital background. With this unique perspective, he not only understands, but appreciates the benefits of teamwork. He believes it is important for employees to feel empowered and that their contributions are valuable to the organization. He believes this style of leadership promotes engagement, inspires employees, and encourages ownership.
Historically, he has been involved with local Chambers of Commerce, Economic Development teams, Airport and FQHC Boards. He has had success in developing community education fairs and community health promotion events. He has been successful involving community members in the mission of the hospital while promoting healthcare education to the community. In 2015, Mr. Torn was awarded the Business Leadership in Economic Development by the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
Mr. Torn has specialized in management of all areas of the acute care hospital including ancillary services, cardiology, emergency services, neurology, orthopedics, physical therapy, outpatient surgery, imaging services, women’s /children’s services, ambulatory care centers, medical clinics, and skilled nursing.
Mr. Torn holds a Master of Healthcare Administration, and Bachelor of Science in Nursing. He is a Fellow with American College of Healthcare Executives. Mr. Torn was also a National Examiner with Malcom Baldrige Quality Award.
Mr. Torn currently resides in Larue, Texas with his wife.
